For the Crust:
- Oreo cookies: 24, crushed into fine crumbs
- Butter: 1/2 cup (melted)
For the Filling:
- Cream cheese: 8 oz, softened
- Powdered sugar: 1 cup
- Heavy whipping cream: 1 1/2 cups
- Vanilla extract: 1 teaspoon
For the Cherry Layer:
- Cherry pie filling: 1 can (21 oz)
For Garnish:
- Additional whipped cream: for topping
- Grated chocolate or chocolate shavings: for decoration
- Whole or halved cherries: for decoration
- Prepare the Crust:
- In a medium bowl, combine the crushed Oreo crumbs with the melted butter until all crumbs are moistened.
- Press the mixture into the bottom of a 9×13 inch dish, creating a firm, even layer. Chill in the refrigerator while preparing the filling.
- Make the Filling:
- In a large bowl, beat the softened cream cheese and powdered sugar together until smooth.
- In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream with the vanilla extract until stiff peaks form.
- Gently fold the whipped cream into the cream cheese mixture until well combined.
- Spread half of this creamy filling over the chilled Oreo crust in an even layer.
- Add the Cherry Layer:
- Spoon the cherry pie filling over the cream layer, spreading it out evenly.
- Add the Final Layer:
- Spread the remaining cream mixture over the cherry layer, smoothing out the top.
- Chill:
- Refrigerate the dessert for at least 4 hours, or until set, to allow the layers to firm up.
- Garnish and Serve:
- Before serving, top with additional whipped cream, grated chocolate, and cherries for garnish.
- Slice into squares and serve chilled.
