Chicken wings: 2 lbs (about 900g), thawed if frozen
BBQ sauce: 1 cup, your favorite brand or homemade
Honey: 1/4 cup, for added sweetness (optional, depending on the sweetness of your BBQ sauce)
Instructions
Prepare the Chicken Wings:
If your wings are not already cut into drumettes and flats, you may want to do so. Rinse the wings under cold water and pat them dry with paper towels. Removing as much moisture as possible helps the sauce stick to the wings.
Season the Wings (Optional):
While this recipe is for 3 ingredients, you can optionally season your wings with a bit of salt and pepper before adding them to the crockpot. This step can enhance the natural flavors of the chicken.
Combine Wings and Sauce:
Place the chicken wings in the crockpot. In a separate bowl, mix the BBQ sauce and honey until well combined. Pour the sauce over the wings, ensuring they are all evenly coated. Use a spoon or your hands to mix well.
Cook:
Cover the crockpot and cook on low for 3-4 hours or on high for 2 hours. The goal is for the wings to be cooked through and tender. Cooking times may vary slightly depending on your crockpot model.
Broil (Optional):
For a crispy exterior, transfer the cooked wings to a baking sheet lined with foil and lightly greased. Broil in the oven on high for a few minutes on each side until the wings are caramelized and slightly crispy. Keep a close eye on them to prevent burning.
Serve:
Serve the wings hot, garnished with sesame seeds or chopped green onions if desired. Extra BBQ sauce can be provided on the side for dipping.
