Instructions
Preparation Steps
Start by boiling a pot of salted water and cook the penne pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside, reserving a little pasta water.
In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 1 minute, being careful not to burn it.
Stir in the crushed tomatoes and let it simmer for 5-7 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together.
Add the heavy cream, red pepper flakes, salt, and black pepper to the sauce. Mix well and let it simmer for another 3-5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Finally, add the cooked penne to the sauce, tossing to coat. If the sauce is too thick, add a splash of reserved pasta water. Mix in the grated parmesan until well combined.
Serve the creamy penne arrabbiata hot, garnished with extra parmesan and a sprinkle of red pepper flakes if desired.
Notes
Feel free to adjust the spice level by adding more or less red pepper flakes. This dish pairs wonderfully with a side salad or some crusty bread!
