Start by preheating your oven to 350°F (175°C). Mix the pretzel pieces and melted butter in a bowl, then stir in 0.5 cup of sugar until well combined. Spread this mixture in a baking dish and bake for about 10 minutes. Let it cool completely.
In a mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese and the remaining 0.5 cup of sugar together until smooth. Gently fold in the whipped topping until you have a fl fluffy mixture. Spread this over the cooled pretzel crust.
In another bowl, combine the sliced strawberries with 2 cups of boiling water. Stir in the strawberry gelatin until it is fully dissolved. Allow the mixture to cool slightly, then pour it over the cream cheese layer. Refrigerate the salad until set.
