  • 1 cup onion, chopped
  • 1 cup bell pepper, chopped
  • 2 clove garlic, minced
  • 2 cup canned diced tomatoes Include some juice for added flavor.
  • 1 cup canned kidney beans Rinsed and drained.
  • 1 cup canned corn Rinsed and drained.
  • 2 tbsp chili powder
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar This adds the sweetness.
  • 0.5 tsp cayenne pepper Adjust for your spice preference.
  • 0.5 tsp salt To taste.
  • 0.5 tsp black pepper To taste.

Preparation Steps

  • In a large pot, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned. Drain excess fat.
  • Add the onion, bell pepper, and garlic; sauté until softened, about 5 minutes.
  • Stir in the diced tomatoes, kidney beans, corn, chili powder, brown sugar, cayenne, salt, and black pepper.
  • Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat and let it simmer for about 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Serve hot and enjoy with your favorite toppings, such as cheese or sour cream.

Notes

This chili is even better the next day, so consider making a larger batch for leftovers!
