Start by preheating your oven to 350°F (175°C). In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Then, beat in the egg, vanilla extract, and fresh orange zest until well combined.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add this dry mixture into the wet ingredients, mixing just until combined. Finally, gently fold in the white chocolate chips.
Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of the cookie dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, leaving space between each cookie. Bake for about 10–12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
