Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1.5 lb beef steak Use sirloin or flank for best results.
  • 1 cup crushed tomatoes Opt for San Marzano for a sweeter flavor.
  • 1 medium onion Chopped.
  • 4 cloves garlic Minced.
  • 0.5 cup green bell pepper Chopped.
  • 1 tsp dried oregano For added flavor.
  • 0.5 tsp red pepper flakes Adjust to taste for spice.
  • 1 tbsp olive oil For cooking the steak.

Instructions

Preparation Steps

  • Begin by heating the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Season the steak with salt and pepper, then sear it for about 4-5 minutes on each side until browned. Remove the steak and set aside.
  • In the same skillet, add the chopped onion and cook until softened, around 3-4 minutes. Stir in the minced garlic and green bell pepper, cooking for another 2 minutes until fragrant.
  • Pour in the crushed tomatoes, oregano, and red pepper flakes. Stir to combine, then return the steak to the pan, spooning sauce over the top.
  • Reduce the heat to low, cover, and let it simmer for 20 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld and the steak to become tender.
  • Slice the steak against the grain and serve it hot, garnished with fresh herbs if desired. Enjoy your hearty meal!

Notes

This dish pairs wonderfully with pasta or crusty bread to soak up the delicious sauce. Feel free to adjust the spices to suit your taste!
